Keeping Fit During the Holidays

Wetsu,

January is the time of year that gyms make their most membership sales. The reason, many people try to make some effort at the typical New Year's resolution: I need to loose a few pounds. Often this resolution comes from the way individuals feel after the holiday season. Celebrations with friends and family are a great holiday experience. However, try to take things in moderation and avoid those extra pounds put on by the holiday season.

Suggestions:

1. Go for a brisk walk (go with a partner that will motivate you).

2. Do some push-ups, sit-ups, or jumping jacks when you get up.

3. Walk up and down your stairs a few times (this one is good if there is snow outside).

4. Be creative and have fun; exercise does not have to be difficult. If you do something that you like, more than likely you will stick to it.

5. Write your exercises down and display it in a public area (i.e. on your refrigerator). This acts as a reminder and a motivator.

6. If you are having difficulty motivating yourself, make a pact with friend or family member to help you or work out with you.
