HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM HEADQUARTERS!

We join with all Faiths that celebrate or reflect during this time of year.  An important part of this season is celebrating our togetherness in the Order of Combat, and looking forward to a marvelous New Year, the 30th Anniversary year of our Martial Arts organization!

COMMUNITY SERVICE     By Jeff Lewis

Community Service is required and expected from members of the Order of Combat, as part of understanding and applying the concept of “Duty” to others around us, our family, friends, and even other citizens that we have never met.

Many of our members, Black Belts, and students perform community service very directly, as volunteers to the public good.  Working on a regular basis as volunteer American military, our State Militias, Volunteer Fireman, Police and Emergency Response and Disaster Relief personnel provide a variety of services that involve risking or extending yourself in support of the community as a whole, thereby strengthening and protecting it.

Other members teach free classes or reasonably priced courses, to make self defense, or physical fitness available to those that might otherwise not be able to afford them. They teach subjects that provide people in their community with valuable skills or knowledge.    Educators, traditional academic, or those that provide other kinds of training, are a benefit to society as a whole.  As an Order member, while teaching, you have an opportunity to promote and develop the ideas of good citizenship, and community service to others, again strengthening and supporting our society.

This season is a good time to plan for what you might do to serve your community during the coming year.  I urge all members of the Order to find some way to assist those in your local community, or volunteer in some way that suits you and makes good use of your talents.  I have found it to be very satisfying in my own life, and rewarding in many ways.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

GrandMaster Lewis
