COMMONWEALTH GAMES OF VIRGINIA KARATE COMPETITION

Members, parents and students are encouraged to attend the Commonwealth Games of Virginia Annual Karate Championship held at Roanoke Catholic School.  This is located just after the 581 overpass on

Orange Avenue
(RT 460), in Roanoke.  Turn Left at the intersection after you pass the Civic Center, the School is immediately on your left.  We will be in the gym.

If you sign up in advance, you may go to the Civic Center on Friday evening, and walk with other Karate Athletes.  We also have an opportunity for those who want to perform at the Opening Ceremonies.  Master Calvin Green, one of our instructors, is the coordinator for the Karate section of the Commonwealth Games.  Students wishing to perform need to report to rehearsal at the Civic Center by , on Friday, July 18. Master Green should be with the producers near the front stage area.  Performers should report to him.

The website is www.commonwealthgames.org for more information.  The Karate competition has on site registration at to 10, with Black Belt Meeting at .  Our members get a discount of $5 when they sign up.  When you sign up, you have the option to compete in Weapons, Forms, and Fighting. 

If you don’t want to compete, you can volunteer and help out, which will allow you free admission and a “T” Shirt.  We encourage everyone to come and volunteer, we need the help, and you and your family can be a part of the year’s best Karate event in Virginia!

Out of State Competitors – There are separate medals awarded for those who compete, but are not Virginia residents! 

Lets get out there and either compete, or come volunteer to make it a success for all of our Virginia Martial Arts Friends!
